What idiot designed this tripwire eject button? My God I can't imagine anything so stupidly concieved. Eject is a precipitous act. Eject combined with power-on is even worse. On the old , the eject button was an actual button directly left of the tray, or up if the console was standing in tower formation. There was no way to trigger it by accident if you were touching the console for some other reason. And yes, there is reason to touch your console while it is powered on; as I said earlier the noise issue is one reason. Now, USB's big bitch is the fact that, because of the wafer in the plug, you never know which is the proper way to insert the plug. I've never done it right the first time.
But Microsoft decided to put the USB ports behind that stupid trap door, carried over from the earlier design assuring me that I have to use two hands and a fucking flashlight in my mouth to plug in the thumb drive or the joystick charger.

As long as the DVD drive in the console is still working correctly, ejecting the disc to end a game should have no ill effects.
The console will spin the drive down to a complete stop before ejecting the disc. Accessing the mini guide and going to dashboard that way is still the better option though. Never had that happen. You can corrupt a save by going to the dashboard if it's in the middle of saving, no matter which way you do it. That's why many games have a warning about not turning off the console or quitting a game when a game is saving. It is, and always has been, perfectly safe to press the eject button in game as long as it is not saving.
I remember doing it on batman AA and kingdom of amalur, both times i had to start all over again. Answer by fsdf Either your console isn't getting power, or the drive could be damaged.
Make sure your cords are secure and make sure the power strip has a solid green light. If the drive is damaged and your system is under warranty, Microsoft will repair it and hopefully save your disc.
